Next Level Grooming!

Anyone else groom their dogs at home? It can be an entire process with two yorkies. After bending over the bathtub to bathe them I usually dry them on the floor, but let’s be honest, climbing up off the hard tile floor is not fun. I finally decided to fix my problem and make a table that fits on the bathroom sink that I can put all of my supplies on and that is sturdy and has a non slip surface so the dogs feel safe.

I started with my measurements. The faucet needed at least a 3″ clearing so that the table would sit above and not on it. I measured the width and depth of the of my sink top and then headed to the garage to start building.

I cut the top, two sides and front of the frame out of some edge glued pine and then added them to the top with 1 1/4″ brad nails and wood glue. This is my first set up. Looks pretty good but I hate that I added the front the full length of the table top so it had to be trimmed down and I also wanted to soften the edges with my new router.

I routed the edges of the top with my new Ryobi One+ Router and trimmed the front with my multi tool. I did a tan wash by watering down paint and painting it on and wiping it off with a cloth. After the paint dried I added a coat of walnut stain and a few coats of wipe on poly.

I even had a bit of a glitch with the first coat of poly taking some of the stain off but I definitely didn’t want to redo it so I just went with it. Character right!?!

I bought some of this Duck Brand Tread tape at my local hardware store and added it to the top to give the pups some traction.

Now it is the perfect addition to our grooming experience and a huge relief for my back.

Don’t forget the treats! We use Pupford treats mixed with plain Cheerios and the pups love them!

Can’t wait to see what you make!
